“What about the children? How do I help them?”

This is a question that anyone who has read the book Like Dragons Did They Fight* could ask. We appreciate the principles taught there about addressing negative thinking patterns that can lead to behavior outside our values, and we have been blessed by implementing those principles in our lives. But we might wonder, isn't there some resource that could help the young people in our lives, too?

There is so much negativity in the world today. We can feel surrounded by it, and some days we have to address negative thoughts all day long. We know who the author of it all is - and we know it doesn’t just affect us. Our young people have negative thoughts, too, and many feel guilt, shame, and unworthiness because they don’t have the tools to know what to do with them.

Today’s episode focuses on the books “Rebecca’s Trick” and “Alexander’s Trick”. In these books, author (and Eternal Warriors coach) Kellie Webster explains, through story, the source of our negative thoughts, in a way that is engaging to children and fun to read.

In its pages, young people learn they have the ability to refuse to listen to those thoughts, and to cast them out. They are shown ways to replace them with powerful truths and empowering actions that help them feel strong and capable. Can you imagine the peace that brings to a young person who had been thinking he or she was “bad” because of the destructive, negative thoughts that would come to mind? What a wonderful gift to bring to a child!
