God alone is King. He is so powerful that any and all who stand in rebellion against him does so to their own demise. But to those who love him, there is refuge in him.

Psalm 1 stands as a magnificent gateway to this extraordinary ancient collection of Hebrew prayers. It teaches us that those who are blessed are the ones who delight themselves in the word of God, meditating on it day and night.

Joseph #10 - Joseph's God

God is faithful to fulfil his promises, even his promise to forgive you entirely of all that you have done.

God’s election of sinners gives us hope and assurance of salvation, since it is not by any merit of our own, but by his sovereign, perfect, and sustaining will.

Jacob and Joseph are reunited, yet something much larger seems to be at play. The family is now safely in Egypt, but they are not out of harm’s way yet. The family must discern what God is doing in their midst as they seek to walk in obedience to what he has called them to.

God in his grace brings resolution and reconciliation to the hurt, pain and guilt of our past. The chapter begins with the brothers riding high and all of their troubles behind them. But God uses Joseph to bring their own sin to light so that they can experience grace.

God has promised to rescue His people from slavery, He has sent Moses to them with signs and wonders to prove His power. The people are excited in anticipation of their freedom. But what happens when this plan hits its first hurdle, a defiant Pharaoh? How the people respond here shows us something about our own hearts and the heart of our God.

Although we have failed to be righteous, God provides Jesus’ sacrifice for us to make us righteous.

Joseph #2 - Joseph Betrayed

The family that God has elected, through which all the families of the earth will be blessed (Genesis 12:3), has turned out to be highly dysfunctional. But this is all part of God’s plan (Genesis 15:13-14). He will get glory from this dysfunctional family, and will use the actions of this dysfunctional family, which were meant for evil, and cause them to be for their good (Genesis 50:20).

Joseph #1 - Joseph Dreams

God is sovereignly causing the covenantal promise that he made to Abraham in Genesis 12:1-3 to come to pass. God has elected Joseph to be the one through whom this promise will come to fruition. God begins to do this in Joseph’s life by giving him very specific dreams about his future.

Christian Perseverance depends upon a loving and merciful God who preserves his people until the end.

2 John

The church must protect herself from false teaching, by loving one another, discerning false teaching when they hear it, and not giving air-time to those who misrepresent Jesus.

Philemon

The gospel compels us towards reconciliation with others because of Jesus reconciled us to God. The book of Philemon is a letter from a guy who is asking the recipient of the letter to forgive the carrier of the letter.
