Some films are big bets for studios...they put a lot of money, time and talent behind them, and then SOMETHING goes wrong and the film just FAILS. No rhyme or reason. THAT IS NOT THE CASE for the first film in our IT'S A DISASTER theme -- 1997's Sundance black comedy darling, The House of Yes. This BONKERS film has very. clear. reasons. for not succeeding -- even with Miramax and the great Aaron Spelling behind it. Starring Parker Posey, Josh Hamilton, Freddie Prinze Jr., and the unofficial mascot of our podcast, Ms. Tori Spelling, this film is very much a play on screen -- and our wonderful special guest Ryan Davis (an actual Yale School of Drama Graduate!) introduces Graham and Katie to this taboo box-office flop, which holds a special place in his heart as a pinnacle of "women on the edge" films. You'll be shocked and yet CANNOT LOOK AWAY from the punchy, pithy, ping-pong dialogue and subversive comedic cues...so join us as we dive into this Jackie Kennedy-themed (sort of?) hurricane!
