Let Me Introduce You

48 episodes - English - Latest episode: about 1 month ago - ★★★★★ - 47 ratings

Let Me Introduce You is a podcast hosted by Graham Veth, Katie Kubert and Ashley Krohn. We’ve known each other nearly 20 years (starting back in film school) and have stayed close friends ever since.

We know...everything about one another and have far, far too much in common. Except, our taste in movies. Seriously, there is very little overlap….

Each week, one of us will introduce the others to one of our favorites. The catch is that one of us has to be seeing it for the first time.

From Troop Beverly Hills to Hellraiser; Clue to Nightmare on Elm Street; Barbarella to Step Up 2: The Streets, no movie is off the table (even if we find it’s not our cup of tea…).

New episodes drop every Thursday, let us introduce you to Let Me Introduce You! Make sure to follow us on Instagram @letmeintroyoupod and on Twitter @letmeintroyou

S3E14 - Grease 2

April 28, 2022 13:00 - 1 hour - 131 MB

How do you follow up one of the most successful musicals in modern memory? How about you cast relative unknowns in lead roles and get them started with a 1/2 finished script that makes ZERO sense, and only just barely connects to its source material? YES, THIS MOVIE IS GOD AWFUL...but it has earned its cult status over the past almost forty years...so join us as Ashley introduces Katie to a beloved childhood favorite, and the final entry in our SEQUEL SENSATION theme -- 1982's Grease 2. Starr...

S3E13 - Beneath the Planet of the Apes

April 14, 2022 07:06 - 1 hour - 112 MB

In one of the countless billions of galaxies in the universe, lies a medium-sized start, and one of its satellites, a green and insignificant planet, is now dead. We, your dear podcasters, are delighted to swerve HARD from last episode's heartwarming story with a film about political ruin, dystopian society, nuclear fear, religious zealotry...and sexy shirtless men with an obvious Katie pick for our SEQUEL SENSATION theme -- 1970's Beneath the Planet of the Apes! An army of civilized apes...a...

We're ending our EXCUSE ME, WHAT?! Series of films we JUST CAN'T FRIGGING BELIEVE the others haven't seen with a big one...a GIANT WHIFFED MISS in Katie's film education, 1986's Labyrinth. This film is a seminal work in the canon of Jim Henson, and showcases some of the amazing things that puppetry can do on film...from something as tiny as a wee little worm who offers you tea with the missus, to a swamp filled with buttholes, or even a collection of weird bird fire things who switch arms and...

S3E10 - An Affair to Remember

February 24, 2022 14:00 - 1 hour - 120 MB

It's not often we visit the 1950s, but for Ashley's pick in our judgement-free theme (we promise), EXCUSE ME, WHAT?! -- films we cannot believe the others have seen -- we take a romantic trip on an Italian cruise, right into the hearts of Cary Grant and Deborah Kerr in 1957's An Affair to Remember. Our two main characters fall in love (OBV) on a cruise ship while involved with other people, so they give themselves six months to sort their lives out and promise to meet on the closest thing to ...

December 09, 2021 14:00 - 1 hour - 137 MB

The podcast which you are about to listen to is an account of the tragedy which befell a group of three best friends, in particular Ashely Krohn and her older brother, (and our special guest) Justin. It is all the more tragic in that they were young(ish). But, had they lived very, very long lives, they could not have expected nor would they have wished to view as much of the mad and macabre as they were to watch on film that day. For them an idyllic winter movie double-feature became a nightm...

S3E6 - Teen Witch (with Stephanie Burgin)

S3E5 - Tombstone (with Zak Kubert)

November 11, 2021 14:00 - 1 hour - 115 MB

There are those in our lives who know us through thick and thin...who get our dumb senses of humor (because hey, they have the exact same ones) and laugh at the same ridiculous things you did when you were 10 years old. They grew up on the same crap, watched the same movies (whether they wanted to or not) and have the same pop culture blind spots...they're OUR SIBLINGS! So to kick off a theme very close to our hearts, we're starting with Katie's brother Zak, and introducing a seminal work of ...

S3E3 - Nine Months

October 21, 2021 13:00 - 59 minutes - 110 MB

Ah...the summer of 1995. When Hugh Grant's hair was still floppy, the world was mere moments away from making Divine Brown a household name, Tom Arnold was still considered funny enough to be cast in something, and a wee BU School of Performing Arts '83 graduate was starring in her first Hollywood romantic comedy, the subject of our final BU ALUMS theme, Nine Months. Highlighting the sheer beauty of a very 90s (and oddly homosexual-free) San Francisco, this film follows couple Samuel and Rebe...

S3E2 - The Long Kiss Goodnight

October 06, 2021 13:00 - 55 minutes - 127 MB

Graham continues our theme of FILMS FROM BU ALUMS with a CFA '79 Graduate KNOWN for her action roles...or rather...just the one. Geena Davis, a woman for the people, tried her best to advance female action stars with her role as Samantha Caine in 1996's action/crime/spy Thriller, The Long Kiss Goodnight. Written by action industry stalwart Shane Black (a script purchased for a record breaking $4 mil), the story opens with an idyllic suburban mother and teacher, Samantha -- a woman who woke up...

S3E1 - Mommie Dearest

September 23, 2021 13:00 - 1 hour - 139 MB

WE'RE BAAAAAACK! For our season 3 opener, we thought we'd go back to our roots...your three favorite podcasters, as wee babes, were once film and television students at Boston University. And what better way to celebrate that legacy than highlighting movies from BU Alums?! And what better alum to start with than Katie's favorite 1962 CFA graduate, Faye Dunaway? And what better film to highlight than the one that arguably killed her career, 1981's Mommie Dearest?! A bitter, harrowing look into...

S2E15 - Waterworld

April 15, 2021 13:00 - 1 hour - 29.8 MB

Water. It is essential for life. But it is also essential for CINEMATIC CHAOS in the Kevin Costner H20 vehicle, the 1995 KING OF ALL FLOPS, Waterworld. Ashley introduces your favorite podcasters to the mother of all aquatic calamities...starring the world's most notorious gill-ed mut-o, Kevin Costner as The Mariner. A man who is truly an island, he sails the oceans of Earth -- a planet long since submerged when its polar ice caps melted -- in search of...more isolation. Until he meets a woman...

S2E14 - Hudson Hawk

April 08, 2021 13:00 - 1 hour - 138 MB

OK, so you're a film executive in 1991 trying to make a blockbuster hit. You have your bankable action star (Bruce Willis in the title role), your beautiful global locations (Rome! New York! Budapest!), your dastardly villain duo (Richard E. Grant and Sandra Bernhard), wild sets and massive explosions. But then you keep adding...music that makes no sense, actors who just dont...act (or do the opposite and OVERact), slapstick "jokes", weird sound effects, a conspiracy theory plot with so many ...

Rebel Wilson eating a bunch of human Rockette-esque cockroaches and then unzipping her own cat skin? James Corden rolling around in garbage while wearing spats? Idris Elba performing magic tricks and s...

S2E12 - The House of Yes (with Ryan Davis)

March 25, 2021 13:00 - 1 hour - 141 MB

Some films are big bets for studios...they put a lot of money, time and talent behind them, and then SOMETHING goes wrong and the film just FAILS. No rhyme or reason. THAT IS NOT THE CASE for the first film in our IT'S A DISASTER theme -- 1997's Sundance black comedy darling, The House of Yes. This BONKERS film has very. clear. reasons. for not succeeding -- even with Miramax and the great Aaron Spelling behind it. Starring Parker Posey, Josh Hamilton, Freddie Prinze Jr., and the unofficial m...

March 18, 2021 13:00 - 1 hour - 142 MB

Some movies live forever in our brains as absolute sheer genius -- a seminal work of comedic timing, improv, and chemistry. But when you've already seen The New Adventures of Pippi Longstocking, where do you go from there? You go one louder. You need that extra push over the cliff to eleven. You need This Is Spinal Tap. The 1984 cult classic Rockumentary lives in infamy -- created by the very stars who bring it to life, Rob Reiner (making is directorial debut!), Michael McKean, Harry Shearer ...

S2E9 - Xanadu

March 04, 2021 14:00 - 58 minutes - 133 MB

1980 was a time of joy. It was a time of feathered hair, glittering light shows, disco, roller skating, Olivia Newton-John, bizarro animation, a million costume changes, Electric Light Orchestra, stories that make very little sense and of course, it was a time of Xanadu. Graham introduces Katie and Ashley to the stunning fever-dream that is this movie for our second installment of LET'S GET MUSICAL -- starring Olivia Netwon-John, Gene Kelly, Michael Beck (from Warriors fame) in a plot that b...
