White folks, this is a conversation calling for us to be better! In this episode, Best Selling author, Janelle Christa, explains what it means to be a Spiritual Ninja. In order to  contribute at our greatest capacity, we must face our humanity and deal with the hard stuff. Relating her work to Black Lives Matter, Janelle doubles down on why it's not okay for white people to deny, ignore, or bypass systematic oppression and the pain of BIPOC (in this conversation, specifically Black people). In the context of standing for social justice, yes, self care is important. However, the Black Lives Matter movement is not about the fragile feelings of white people. Protect our energy so we can hold space and contribute? Yes. But we should feel this. We should de-numb ourselves to the pain of all those who are oppressed. It is only by doing the work and getting present to the impact of White Supremacy that we can leverage our privilege to take steps in the right direction.
