LM57 Laughter Matters-I Am Unemployable

Laughter Matters, Episode 57, 1/9/20, I am Unemployable

Yesterday we reviewed research on what makes people happy. These include:

Having quality relationships with family and friends.

Having a career or hobby we love and challenging

Helping others through volunteering or random acts of kindness.

I spent 17 years as a CFO and CPA. I enjoyed the accounting, but found everything else that went with the job to be unpleasant, so 22 years ago I started speaking, which lead me to also do stand-up comedy. Although it is challenging, I love helping people learn and experience how laughter matters in reducing stress and building successful organizations and I am happier than I was doing accounting.

Good thing because, since I have done this longer than I did accounting, my brother Michael, thinks it makes me unemployable. He says an HR person would see my application and say, “Yes, Mr. Rader, we see you’re a CPA, but you had a 22 year gap in your employment history, which wasn’t that great. We just don’t think you’re a good fit here at Taco Bell.”

If your organization or association is looking for a fun keynote with valuable, informative content, send me an email to [email protected] and always remember laughter matters.
