LM1175 Louisville

LM, Episode 1175, 3/7/23, Louisville, KY

What a weekend. I was scheduled to do shows at the Caravan Comedy Club in Louisville Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.  Driving to the club Thursday night on Baxter Street, I hit six consecutive red lights, which is weird, but what was weirder was the guy in the lane next to me would stop at every red light, but, when there wasn’t traffic coming, he’s go through it like it’s a four way stop sign.

Friday the weather was wrath of God stuff.  It poured rain all day, causing flooding, then came 70 mile an hour winds, tornados, when I was going to supper, it was snowing, “Okay, God, I get the point.  Don’t destroy Louisville to get me to change my evil ways.”

The power at the club was knocked out, canceling my shows for that night.

About 8 pm I went to supper at Outback, making the mistake of sitting at the bar next to Pete from Florence, KY, just across the Ohio River from Cincinnati.  Pete was just like the guy who has become his parents on the Progressive Insurance commercial who chats with everyone on the hotel elevator.

When he finds out I live in Cincinnati, but am from Kansas City, he talks in depth about the games between the Chiefs and Bengals over the past two years.  He tells me of not one, but two harrowing experiences he had with rental cars in Kansas City.  One was confiscated by the Overland Park Police because it had been used in a murder.  They had to get his fingerprints and DNA so they could rule him out of the evidence.

The second one he was driving in Kansas and a Kansas Highway Patrolman pulls him over and draws his gun.  It seems someone switched license plates on the rental car with one from a stolen car.

Although Saturday dawned a beautiful, sunshiny, spring day, the power was never restored to the club and I was back home Saturday night for supper.

Louisville, you never cease to surprise me.

Thank you for listening and always remember laughter matters.
