An announcement yesterday meant to protect Southeastern Utah communities from the spread of COVID-19 has left Moab’s workforce scrambling to understand a new reality for their livelihoods. The 30-day order from the Southeast Utah Health Department closes dine-in restaurants and shuts overnight lodging facilities to visitors on vacation. The health department issued these orders as tourists continued to pour into Moab’s hotels, restaurants, and natural playgrounds despite national warnings of a global pandemic.
