Local Couple Hosts Monks For 27th Year

The Tibetan Monks from the Gaden Shartse Monastery have been in and around Nevada County since January 20th and will stay until February 4th. Diane Jacobson and her husband, Dale, have been hosting them during their visits since 1996. The Diablo Canyon nuclear power plant, on the coast between San Francisco and Los Angeles, will soon reach the end of its operating licenses. The Nuclear Regulatory Commission, last week, refused to grant PG&E’s request to shortcut the license extension process; given the ongoing discovery of earthquake faults near the plant, license extension is controversial. On February 1, 2023, the County of Nevada is issuing a CodeRED emergency alert to test the system they use during events such as wildfires and severe storms.
