This was mostly a finish getting ready for winter kind of weekend. We closed up the crawlspace vents and Bruce did another upgrade to the mousey spa to Revision 3.0. We also went for a drive through the Wahta Mohawk reserve and nothing says late fall colors like all the indian smokes signs at almost every driveway. Especially "Smokes on The Wahta".

Of course we should have voted the municipal road crews as the turkey of the day for paving the road 2 weeks after painting new lines. I guess that was so they would get the paver down the centre of the road instead of driving it through the woods or something. Luckily we only worry about gravel and grading on our part of the private road

It's bug season in the muskokas and this year it is a triple threat. The mosquitoes have come in early to help out the black flies, and they have both called in air support from the horse flies. The usual bug repellants only seem th make the bugs angry until Bruce digs out the Super Muskol. Cliff finally gives up on chemistry and resorts to a bug shirt so he can burn off a tank of gas in the kottage mower.

After a cold and snowy winter the lake level has come up earlier and higher than ever. They survived the septic tank freezing up this winter and now mother nature decides to try to flood out the kottage. Laughing in the face of mother nature Cliff decides nothing is going to get in the way of him having his coffee on the dock in the morning. Even if it is under a foot of water.

Cliff is in the dog house for taking the boat to the marina for winter storage without taking the water line out of the lake. Since the paddle boat really isn't up to the task Cliff and Bruce hang a vintage Evinrude 8hp outboard on the end of the floating dock and it's anchors away.
