In this episode we’ve passed both Karen’s birthday and K1G2′s third anniversary.  Yay!

In Adventures with Knitting, Maggie has…frogged her Hobbitalong scarf (*insert Dramatic Gopher*).   It’s currently in time out.  But her Kernel scarf and her Madame Phelps shawl, finished the first Neldoreth sock, finished the Milanese Lace toper (with her own handspun!) and has been doing some spinning practice.  Karen, meanwhile, has been slogging along with the There and Back Again Scarf, and pretty much nothing else (other than movie socks) because summer at a public library and end of the college summer semester (by the way, to any teachers, when she says “decent grade” she means at least as high as the A which is her lowest course grade so far, don’t panic).

In Geek Squee, OMG GET INTO THE BUNKERS, J.K. Rowling wrote a short Harry Potter story and the first episode of Season 8 of Doctor Who has leaked online.   Also, the latest Dresden Files novel, “Skin Games”, is out and Maggie is freaking out; she’s also laughing at the Canadian/geeky references in Kevin Hearne’s “Shattered”.  If you’re a Dresden fan, keep an eye on the “Odd Duck Swaps” group on Ravelry, as they’ll be doing a Dresden one in future.  Emmy nominations are out, and Sherlock and Cosmos are nominated for a bunch of stuff.  Karen is going to go on the warpath if Cosmos doesn’t win almost everything.  There’s also news about some character changes in the upcoming Constantine tv show, Fox cancelled Heiroglyph beofre it even premiered, people may actually believe triceratops still roam the earth (we’re convincing ourselves that that’s not the case for the good of humanity), and Emma Watson has been appointed as the UN Women’s goodwill ambassador.

In Cravings Covets and Crushes, we have artwork by aliciamb on redbubble of unusual patronuses (as well as a lot of adorable cards featuring other fandoms), and the American Museum of Natural History is offering sleepovers for grownups.  WANT.  Also, if you’re still not over this season of Game of Thrones or want to stock up for next year, the Wines of Westeros has classy ways to drown your sorrows.
