SPOILER ALERT!  Spoilers for Agent Carter Season 2 up to episode 5 from 44:55 to 51:25!

In this episode, there’s some kind of sports thing going on, apparently?

In Adventures in Knitting, Maggie is working on a bunch of baby gifts including a Vivid Blanket and a couple seekrit things as well as the Shiny mitts that are a gift for someone as well.  She’s also working on a Jaffrey Hat, and a pair of Zipper socks (FOR HERSELF OMG) as well as a bunch of spinning.  Also, she has big personal news which, YAAAAAY.  Karen, meanwhile is trying to stick to finishing things instead of casting on ALL THE THINGS like she wants to.  She finished the Myrtle Scarf and the cowl for her mother, and started a pair of socks using a scroll lace pattern she found in one of her stitch dictionaries.  She’s also working (intermittently) on the Zick Zack Scarf.  Also she miiight be starting the Crocus shawl by Hiroko Payne because a giant beaded, nupped, laceweight shawl is totally what she needs right now, especially as she’s started sewing and is gaining quite the fabric stash, AND she’s tried a little weaving thanks to a loaner loom.

In Geek Squee, Karen saw Star Wars: The Force Awakens and enjoyed it (and especially enjoys kids of all genders loving Rey as a hero), while Maggie has a date to go see Deadpool.  Also, yay new season of Agent Carter and OMG X-FILES IS BACK!  Neil deGrasse Tyson is saving us all from people who legitimately still think the world is flat via RAP BATTLE (also Karen’s going to see him speak and is SUPER EXCITED).  Hoever on a sad note, everyone raise your wands for the passing of Alan Rickman.

In Cravings, Covets and Crushes, in representation news, Barbie is now adding curvy, petite and tall versions to the their doll lines and Lego has introduced a minifigure in a wheelchair, yay! Also, the new Lego Marvel Avengers game is out and OMG KAMALA KHAN IS IN IT (also Squirrel Girl!  And Clark Gregg as Coulson, of course :D).  If you’re looking for some more unique adult colouring books, check out the #ColorOurCollections link roundups for some super awesome images from various museum and library collections, including Medieval illuminated manuscripts, Victorian natural science images and many more!  Karen’s dying to do the Crazed Scandinavian Cowl by Wendy Johnston because of course she is.

We’re doing a knitalong!  We’re doing the CanConKAL/CAL – a celebration of Canadian designers and yarnies!  As the Canadian dollar is so terrible right now (but really good for those in the US or Europe!) you can use Canadian milled/sourced/dyed yarn and/or a pattern by a Canadian designer (which includes people that were born in Canada and moved elsewhere, as well as those born elsewhere and who now live in Canada–you’re Canadian to us. :D).  We’re planning to start late March and finish projects by Canada Day, July 1st.  Stay tuned for the thread in the Ravelry group for a list of designers and yarn providers!
