In this episode: can it be Rhinebeck already?  No seriously, we want it to be Rhinebeck already, especially as both Karen and Maggie are going for the entire weekend this year, yay!  We’ll also be at the Kitchener-Waterloo Knitters’ Fair on Sept.  so look for the K1G2 logo t-shirts and Karen’s Peggy Carter hat, and join us at 11:30 in the food area for a little meetup!

In Adventures in Knitting, Maggie is still working on the epic shawl for her mother, but the end is in sight!  Sadly, she’s going to need more yarn for that end.  Meanwhile she’s finished the Sacre du Printemps socks and is still working on Vivid blanket squares as well as doing some more spinning (and learning about fulling!).  Oh and someone’s been giving her a nudge to finish the Bob socks.  Not to mention sooper seekrit projects for the K1G2 swap, as well as, uh, acquiring a loom?  Karen meanwhile is at a bit of an impasse with her Urdr shawl, so she’s finished her candleflame-pattern socks, started working again on a pair of twisted-stitch cable socks that have been hibernating for a while, and has done a lot of thinking (but not knitting) on her Rhinebeck sweater.  Oh and she’s also planned exactly what she’s going to be knitting on the train to Rhinebeck: the Arbre shawl by Andrea Rangel.  (Side note, yes booze is available from the cafe car on Amtrak.  WOO!)

In Geek Squee, we got some news about the new seasons of Agents of SHIELD and Agent Carter (with a little digression about why 40s film star Hedy Lamarr is awesome and deserves geek girl sainthood), but more importantly, the EPIC DUBSMASH WAR between the two shows is making our lives at the moment, and will be raising money for charity!  Also we got a new Deadpool trailer, and Tom Hiddleston is off the fantasy boyfriend market for Maggie, so she has a sad.  Also, Karen saw Ant-Man, and mostly enjoyed it, and finally saw a favourite movie on the big screen and LOVED it.  And of course Stephen Colbert couldn’t resist making Lord of the Rings references on Jon Stewart during Stewart’s final episode of the Daily Show.

In Cravings, Covets and Crushes, Maggie’s brother is cohosting a podcast called Packet Loss with some nerdy crossover that is super NSFW (but seriously, like we can talk), Karen’s started calling down the computer game hole thanks to the Game Grumps YouTube channel (especially their “Steam Train” series) and the Little Inferno game.  Also, Kim McBrien-Evans of Indigodragonfly has released a new sweater pattern called “Meander” which is gorgeous!

Almost done the Urdr shawl!  …I just need to rip out the last 4 rows, and decide whether to bind off after just 2 repeats of the edging pattern, or do the third with other yarn.  And dye the other yarn, for that matter.: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/urdr

Finished the candleflame-pattern Koigu socks!

Picked up a pair of toe-up socks (also using one of my German stitch dictionaries) that have been hanging around for a while.  Just did the toe of the second sock, first was already at the heel.

Planning & need to get started on my Rhinebeck sweater, now that I have a better idea of what it’s going to be.  At the moment going for the Cypress Cardigan by Amy Herzog from Knit to Flatter…except with a different stitch pattern.
