#086 The Art of Receiving

This is episode nine in my 30 episode Prosperity Series where we are discussing how to heal yourself from the mental disease of poverty.

And today’s we are discussing the art of receiving.

Receiving money seems like it should be very simple. Shouldn't it be? We all say, “Yes, I'm open to receiving, allow the money to come to me”, but it's a little more complicated than that. In order to be open to receiving money, we have to be open to receiving all sorts of energy.

I want you to think about the last time you received something from someone, whether it was a compliment, an affectionate touch, money, a gift. Think about the last time you received something and go into your memory bank and think about how you felt when you received it? What was the emotion that came up in that moment of receiving the item or energy that you received? How you reacted to receiving that energy is also reflective of how you receive money.

The universe sees all things as energy. The energy of money, compliments, gifts, it's all energy. And the universe doesn't even differentiate between worth it. It doesn't see money as more valuable than a compliment. It's all energy.

When we receive energy, if we are little off-put, if it makes us nervous or uncomfortable, the Universe doesn't know the difference between you accepting the compliment and you accepting money. So the University immediately goes, “Oh, well, that person's really uncomfortable receiving energy. So let's give them less of it.”

How does receiving energy make you feel? I know a lot of people get very uncomfortable when they get something as simple as a compliment. They get a compliment and a blouse they are wearing and they deflect it by saying, “This old thing? It is really old.” They make up all these excuses and push away the energy of the compliment.

Have you done it? I think I've probably done it in the past, but my mom really got it into my head that when someone gives you a compliment you MUST graciously accept it.

Think about what you are doing when you receive energy. Are you repelling it by energetically saying, no? The last time someone gave you a gift, how did it make you feel? Were you excited to receive the energy? Or did you feel uncomfortable? If you get uncomfortable, then you are repelling gifts and all sorts of other energy away from you. And that includes money.

Now, when we get uncomfortable with receiving energy like that, it usually will stem from something like a self-worth issue. If that is the case with you, then you will have to do some inner work and take a deep dive into why you feel uncomfortable when someone gives you energy. What is it that makes you unworthy? Because if you don't feel worthy of receiving energy and it makes you feel uncomfortable, understand that the Universe doesn't know the difference between you receiving a gift from someone and you receiving money. If you're repelling the energy away with discomfort or embarrassment or whatever is popping up for you, then you're going to do that with money as well. You're going to have to work through the emotion that comes up in the moment of receiving energy, so you can heal it. Only then will money come to you, because until you are open to receiving energy in all forms. People say, “I really want money.” But then they repel all the other energy away. It doesn't work that way. We have to be open to receiving every energy.

Make it a little bit of a practice. If someone goes to give you something, even though it might be something that you maybe don't really want or really need, and you’re thinking, “What am I going to do with this?” Just accept it. Accept it and be excited that you received energy. Say to the Universe, “I'll take that beautiful energy. Thank you so much.”

Allow the energy to come to you in whatever form it's showing up for you. And when you allow the energy to come in and it flows and it starts to feel really good, then you're going to see the energy of money flowing to you as well. But until you overcome or transmute all those feelings of discomfort around receiving, you won't be able to receive money. It's going to be very, very difficult. It may still flow in, but it's going to be a very challenging process. We have to work on our vibration, our thoughts, our feelings around the idea of receiving so that the money can flow to us.

If you're feeling any discomfort, go deep, write it out, write out why you think you're uncomfortable. What is it? Is it maybe that your parents told you not to accept compliments? Something happened at some point, and maybe you don't even have to go back. I'm not a fan of going back and figuring out why something happened, that’s really not where I come from. I’d rather see the problem and then move forward. So you can choose to do either one. You can go back and figure out why this is happening? Or you can just tell yourself, “You know what? I know I am worthy in this time and moment right now. I know I am worthy because God-Force is flowing through me at every second. And because I am part of God and I am a worthy human being, I am happy to accept any energy that is coming my way.”

Either way, you’re going to have to do the inner work. And again, mastering our thoughts and mastering our feelings around this so that we can be open to receiving is key. Then you can begin to receive the abundance and prosperity that is your birthright. Allow yourself to receive the money and receive all the energy. Begin to see everything as the gift of the Universe, as energy coming to you. It could be a penny on the floor. It could be a free gift certificate. It could be some random coupon for free ice cream. I don't know what it's going to be for you, but those things are going to start to flow in.
