87: “She didn’t give up on herself and she didn’t give up on others.” - My interview with soccer coach and math teacher, and former Samford University Soccer Player, Sara Geiger Schmitt

In the 87th episode of Keep Moving Forward I interview St. Pius High School Varsity soccer Coach and Math teacher, and former Samford University soccer player, Sara Geiger Schmitt.
 
“She didn’t give up on herself and she didn’t give up on others.” Though she faced obstacle after obstacle, Sara Geiger refused to accept the meaning of the phrase “give up.” Her relentless determination both on and off the soccer field developed within her a drive to pursue her goals with every ounce of energy she could muster, while also developing an innate sense to recognize how to help others and lift them up. These skill she honed as a collegiate athlete brought her to the realization that she could use her love of soccer as well as her authentic leadership skills to help young women walk through their own athletic journeys and beyond. Sara sprinted into her calling to become a soccer coach and math teacher, understanding fully that you only run into a problem when you transition if you decide to stay unhappy. Sara knew that the end of her athletic career did not signify the end of her love affair with soccer. In fact, it meant the direct opposite.
 
As a member of a co-state championship high school winning team and today as the head Varsity coach of a state championship winning team, you better believe Sara isn’t anywhere near done yet. It was a privilege to have the chance to share her story and I hope you all enjoy my interview with Sara Geiger Schmitt.
