The Santa Barbara Unified School District spent 3.18% less than the required amount on teacher's salaries this year, and are seeking excusal by the California Department of Education citing extraneous spending during the COVID-19 period. As negotiations between the board and the Santa Barbara Teachers Association looming, the request for a waiver has left teachers feeling even more frustrated. KCSB's Abigail Alberti has more.
