For the Sake of Jesus

The unbelieving world does not understand the reality of what Jesus did on the cross two thousand years ago. But when you bear hardship and persecution with grace – and you turn the other cheek – the world sees Jesus and who he really is. Do not allow a hostile culture to silence you. Stand strong for Jesus!

Let Pain Take Wing

God does not promise to take away your troubles, but he does promise to bless you as you persevere. Do not waste your pain. Allow God to use it to mature you and display his strength to others. Let your pain take wing and do something!

If so, consider that he describes himself as “merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness.” Be careful not to misread God. A New Point of View

God’s Word commands you to give thanks for everything. But surely he does not expect you to thank him for my heartaches and suffering! Yes, even the painful trials in your life are an occasion for thanksgiving. Though you will not feel thankful for those hard things, you can give thanks for them, knowing that they are part of God’s perfect plan for your life.

New Ownership

God loves to take ordinary things – a staff, a cross, a wheelchair – and set them apart for his glory. Consider what ordinary things you may have in your life that you can give to God for his use. He will fill them with new meaning, and fill you with hope in the process!

Learning to Appreciate Prayer

The only way to develop a true appreciation for prayer is to pray! The more you pray the more you will enjoy doing it. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you nurture a deeper love for prayer!

The starting place for any genuine spiritual growth in your life is a deeper understanding of the sinfulness of your own heart. Be aware of its predisposition toward depravity, deception, and double-mindedness. Readily confess your sins and call on the mercy of your Savior!

Rejoice in This Day

Before you open your eyes in the morning, set your heart and mind on Jesus. Rejoice that the Lord has given you another day to invest in his kingdom. This is the day the Lord has made, so be glad in it!

Do the Things You Can

When you are struggling with limitations and discouraged by things you cannot do, turn your heart to the Lord. Focus on the things you can do through Christ who gives you strength.

Relief from Pain

Joni has learned that one of the best remedies for her chronic pain is minimizing stress. And the best way to reduce stress? Seek the Lord and his righteousness. God’s Word promises that the fruit of righteousness is lasting peace and rest. When you’re in pain, nothing is better than peace and quietness from the Lord!

The Key to Contentment

The apostle Paul learned to be content in every circumstance. How did he do it? By believing that Jesus and his power and strength would see him through even the worst of times. Follow Paul’s example: take it one day at a time leaning on Jesus. As you do, you will cultivate a heart of contentment.

First Obtain Mercy

What a privilege it is to approach the throne of God and bring your needs to him! But before presenting him a list of requests, give God thanks for his mercy. Only through his mercy in Christ are you, a sinner, even able to enter his presence. Thank God for his throne of grace!

Jesus Paid the Price

When you are walking in the darkness, feeling hopeless and alone, you may be tempted to “curse God and die.” But cursing God and walking away from him would be closing the door on hope. Do not cut yourself off from the source of all that is good and happy and hopeful. Ask the Lord to show you how to move forward through your hardship. He died to bring you life!

Look for God's Blessing

Look for God’s blessings in the ordinary routine of your day. You will be amazed at what you discover! Once you see those blessings, pass them on to others. Give the gift of kindness and generosity. Be an instrument of blessing in someone else’s life, in the name of Jesus.

Making Sense of Suffering

If you are struggling with difficult circumstances right now – chronic pain, a difficult marriage, a prodigal child, illness – you may find yourself asking God, “Why are you allowing so much hardship in my life?” Friend, take heart that your trials are producing great spiritual benefits in your life. These momentary trials are preparing for you an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison!

Your Story of Redemption

If you have experienced the grace of God in the midst of hardship, share your story! Others need to hear how God redeemed your pain and turned it into something triumphant. Remind others that God’s grace can be sufficient in their lives as well.

Be a Friend to Jesus

In the moments when Jesus most needed a friend, his disciples abandoned him. As a follower of Jesus, what sort of friend does he have in you? Give him your time, your joys, your sorrows. Offer him your very soul, and be a friend to Jesus!
