INS049 - Polygamy & The Millionaire Journey with Calvin Wayman

In 2015 Calvin Wayman threw in his cushy, safe job and decided to become an entrepreneur. He also decided he would document his journey from being in debt to becoming a self-made millionaire because too often we only ever see the end product of success, not the steps that took place to get them there.

But before he even could even begin he had to overcome the mental shackles that came with growing up in a family with one father, four mothers and dozens of brothers and sisters.

Calvin grew up in a polygamy family, and he was the first person in his family to get a college education. So the thought of ever being wealthy and financially free was not something that came easily to both Calvin and his wife.

If you look at Oprah, Gary Vaynerchuk, Steve Jobs, Jim Carey and Michael Jordan, they all have one thing in common. There's little to no content before their rise to the top. 

Stories told after the fact lose a lot in translation.

Attending events is the best work you will ever do. When you attend an event, 15% is about content, and 85% is about relationships and connections.

If you cannot afford a ticket for an event, go anyway without a ticket and sit in the bar or lobby with your laptop and do your usual work. Wait for the breaks and start building your relationships and connections. 

Often you'll be offered free tickets from people you know who have an extra ticket or were holding one for a friend who did not turn up. 

Calvin would often turn up to a high-profile event strictly to connect with future podcasting guests. Brilliant!!!

Do you have a vision? Get honest with what you want and then write it out. Write it out in future-tense, as though all your goals have already happened. Make it believable.
