2samuel 4

Ish-Bosheth Saul's son was murdered by two brothers who happened to be his men . They were leaders of raiding bands . Their names were Bannan and Rekab . He was killed while having his day rest inside his home and they cut off his head.
These men went to David with the severed head however they were rewarded with gruesome death .

Lessons
Wickedness is of the devil. These men were expecting to receive a reward from David for kiling their defenceless boss .

2 Samuel 5
David officially became king over the tribes of Israel. All the tribes of Israel came to David to make him king over them all.

They said he has led them before while Saul was alive, and thus he should lead them now. David was thirty (30) years of age when he began to reign and his rulership lasted 40 years.

He conquered the Jebusites who resided in Jerusalem even though they taunted David that even their lame and blind will defeat him.
Afterwards David defeated the Philistines too after he had asked the Lord for direction.

Lessons
Our victory is sure when we keep all our trust in God. David has the habit of asking God for direction. We should also imbibe the habit .

2 Samuel 6
The chapter begins with David and certain chosen men of Israel making the trip to retrieve the ark of God back to Israel.

They took 30,000 men and put the ark of God on a new cart, to bring it out of the house of Abinadab in Gibeah. It was a good time, they were playing music and celebrating bringing the Lord’s ark back to Israel.

However the cattle driving the cart shook and the ark of God began to stumble and fall. Uzzah stretched out his hands to help but the Lord struck him down dead.
David was scared and instead of bringing the ark to his city directed his men to take it to a certain man Obededom .
Meanwhile the ark of God stayed in Obededom's residence and he was greatly blessed. Then David went to retrieve the ark , he made a sacrifice and was dancing . However his wife Michal was not pleased with the way David was dancing . David rebuked him and it was recorded that she was baren till her death.

Lessons
We must be intentional in our service to God. God Loves orderliness.
Also God can turn a negative circumstance to our advantage. We should be humble and allow His to have his way.

2samuel 7

David decided to build a house for the Lord, he felt so concerned that the ark of God was in a tent while he lives in a huge mansion .

However, God sent Nathan to tell David not build the tabernacle for Him. God never had anyone build Him anything, so He didn’t need or want a tabernacle.

The LORD further commanded David that when He died, God would have David’s Son establish His Kingdom and David’s Son would build a house for God’s name. God would also establish the Son of David’s kingdom forever.

Lessons
God's way might not be our way most of the time. We should allow Him to tell us what to do at every point in time. Our passion should not make decisions for us but God .

2samuel 8
David keeps up his military campaigns against Israel's enemies, and gets on a hot winning streak. He defeats the Philistines, taking the city of Metheg-ammah from them, and defeats the Moabites, leaving those he doesn't execute to pay tribute to him.

Lessons
With God on our side victory is sure.
