This section begins with Saul a young man from the tribe of Benjamin searching for his father’s lost donkeys in the process. He meets the prophet Samuel, who anoints him as first king of Israel Sauls’s anointing is followed by his public proclamation asking which is met with mixed reactions from the people. In chapter 11. Sauls leader ship is put to the test when the ammonites threaten to invade the city of Jabesh Gilead. saw a response by gathering an army and defeating that I am a night which leads to his confirmation as king by the people, chapter 12 marks, Samuels farewell speech to the Israelites. He reminds them of his integrity as their leader, and calls them to repent of their rebellion against God. Samuel Intercedes on their behalf, and calls on God to send a sign of his favor. In response, God sends a thunderstorm during the dry season, which demonstrates his power and confirms Samuels authority as a Prophet.
