Gen 37-39
Summary:   Gen 37 Joseph reveals a dream to his brothers and as a result, his brothers become bitter towards him and plots a scheme to kill him. Instead of killing him, they sell him into slavery to a caravan of traders headed to Egypt. Once in Egypt, Joseph becomes the servant of Potiphar, who was an officer of Pharaoh.

Gen 38:   Judah moves away from his family and marries a Canaanite woman, Shuah.   He has three sons Er, Onan and Shelah. Er marries Tamar but soon dies because he was wicked before God.  Onan was given to Tamar in order to raise up seeds for his brother but was also killed by God for wickedness.  Being that the youngest son Shelah was never given to her, she devised her own plan. She disguised herself as a prostitute, led Judah to lay with her and conceived.

Gen 39:  While in Egypt the Lord was with Joseph.  He became the overseers for Potiphar entire household and God blessed him in everything that he did.  Potiphar’s wife took notice of Joseph and tried to lay with him but Joseph refused because of his commitment to God.  She falsely accused him of approaching her and had him thrown in jail by Potiphar.  While In prison, God continued to show Joseph favor and he was placed in charge of all of those in prison. For God prospered whatever Joseph put his hands to do.
