Intel acquired Smart Edge in 2019 to continue to drive its vision of networks built on open, industry-standard edge computing. Built on OpenNESS (openness.org), the Intel Smart Edge offering is a MEC platform commercialized for market use cases for on-premise enterprise deployments.
