Brooke's role at Safeco is to help build the brand and voice for specialty products like: boat, RV, classic cars, and more. She evangelizes about the value of the specialty customer and how independent agents can stand out in a crowded market. Brooke sometimes goes to agent meetings and presents to agents, but she also develops email and social media marketing campaigns. She developed a very helpful infographic to talk to agents about the value of a specialty customer. The retention and referrals of a specialty client is generally much longer and larger. Just by looking at a specialty customer you can financially benefit your top line and bottom line.

There are a few easy ways to get into the specialty market. For example, if you own or are passionate about a classic car, boat, or other specialty vehicle, you can network with individuals that share the same passion to help grow your personal and commercial line of business. Building a connection with one person in the specialty market with more often than not lead to connecting with multiple people. Your initial connection may potentially refer multiple other customers to your agency. Tapping into certain niches will allow you to grow exponentially.

3. How to Reach Specialty Customers | 7:11
An easy way to reach these people is to start on LinkedIn and twitter! find these people through hashtags and searches and try to connect with them there. Social media is a very easy way to connect with billions of people. Other tools like direct mail and email campaigns can be effective. Another effective way to connect is to knock on dealership doors and walk around car shows. There are plenty of opportunities to see and be seen.

4. What is Safeco Doing for the Independent Agent | 11:51
Safeco is the carrier champion for independent agents. Every tool and product that they offer is a great product. There are lots of ways that Safeco gets these products to agents and customers. Safeco offers the most programs and benefits which is why independent agents develop relationships with them. Brooke emphasizes the importance of thinking differently about your business and evolving. Having multiple ways to connect with your customer on a personal level is very important.
