However, even more important to influential leadership is attentive listening. Listening with our full presence has a powerful impact on those we wish to influence. Listening validates the person speaking, whether it’s your team member, staff, or clients. When we are fully engaged, present, and listening to what is said and, what isn’t said, we not only convey how important the person speaking is to us, we also gain valuable insight into their perspective.
