Health

Does this physician with 42 years of experience have any special diet for his health?

"No, I really don't. In extensive studies of biochemistry I found out that the human organism is a lot more clever than I had given it credit for, and that most humans can correct for a lot of problems unbeknownst to them due to the hypothalamus in your brain, which is in control of all of your eating and metabolism. It regulates the amount of fats that are stored. It regulates the amount of glucose. It switches back and forth from glucose to fatty acids to amino acids. So, it can pretty much make a good diet out of anything."

Fitness

Does this busy doc have a fitness routine, or is life his fitness routine?

"I live on an acre, and I like to cut my own firewood. So, I spend quite a bit of time with activity. I just really never  liked exercise. I just always thought it was horribly boring. Now, exercising does make you feel better, and so I'm certainly not critical of people that exercise. But, exercise has not shown to increase your lifespan. Why do the studies show that people who exercise have increased lifespan? Because healthier people exercise. It's the other way around. If you've got familial heart disease or you've got terrible arthritis you don't exercise because you can't. So, there is no data. But, exercising certainly helps with stress. It makes you feel better about your life. If I had a choice, I would exercise rather than diet."

Peace of Mind

How does Thomas Kline, MD find peace of mind in the troubled times we all inevitably go through?

"Trying to do something about things. Documenting into crying is not helpful. Complaining is not helpful. I find that if there's a problem, you can identify the problem, and then you work your best to try to figure out how to solve it."

Adapt & Overcome

How does he adapt and overcome to the challenges and obstacles he has faced along his journey?

"I don't know. That's kind of a hard question. I don't think I have a ready answer for that."

Opiates, Addiction Types, & Pain Management

Dr Kline gives us a fascinating talk about addiction, pain management, and current policy dealing with drug regulations and enforcement.
