If you want to skip the back story - just click here: http://bit.ly/monstertalkbooks   Listeners have been asking for us to compile all the books we've talked about into a single page for years now. I hadn't had the time before now, but thanks to my current "non-employment" situation, I decided to try and do it right.  I've designed the page to plug in Google spreadsheet and display via a Data Table. This means as we add more content, it will automatically update without having to do a...

S02E23 - The Coming Ice Age

January 19, 2021 05:01 - 2 hours - 148 MB

Jeb and Blake are joined by climate scientist Dr. John Cook to discuss this infamous episode of In Search Of... You may have noticed that since the 1970s we did not descend into a frozen ice age. In fact - quite the opposite. Dr. Cook was kind enough to join us to talk about both the history of the science discussed in this episode, and the many challenges of dealing with science denialism. It's a treat of a discussion. In addition to his work teaching at George Mason University, Cook...

Butch doesn't favor Paul Newman much, but it's good acting in the film.  Here's Butch's mug shot: And ...

December 02, 2020 17:09 - 1 hour - 125 MB

Jeb and Blake watch In Search Of's take on the world of traditional medicine through the lens of "Witch Doctors."  We were pleasantly surprised at what we found. YouTube continues to crackdown on "In Search Of" episodes.  You can get the DVDs (just like Jeb and I use to make the show!) on Amazon.  (Affiliate Link - a small % of sales from using this link goes to support my crippling coffee habit.) A spooky quest? Finding ISO's graveyard?

October 22, 2020 11:09

As you good listeners have probably figured out, I get obsessed with trying to solve mysteries. Currently one of the most haunting to me is the question of where did In Search Of... film these cemetery shots?  We know that the crew commonly shot Nimoy's footage in Los Angeles, and also in San Francisco.  Occasionally they shot in New York.  I've asked my Los Angeles friends to have a look and they generally all agree that this cemetery is far too lush and green to be in the L. A. area...
