Let’s talk law enforcement.  Mark says it must be really difficult to be a cop now

Same with politicians

Jim brings up the BLM protests and he says it’s a tipping point.  Mayors and Governors giving orders for police to stand down

Jim says it’s weak leadership

Mark talks about getting arrested at age 12 - “bumper skiing”

Jim talks about crime and the lack of consequences as well as the current state of San Francisco

How did we get here?  Laws not being enforced

Mark describes what he believes the hierarchy - cops, criminals and DA’s

Are DA’s being selectively selected - Liberal versus conservative

Mark says the data does not support systemic racism and the problem is much deeper

Jim talks about being arrested as a young man and how it curbed his behavior.  Drinking and driving at 14 and how he talked his way out of it

Mark has respect for the police from his parents

Both guys talk about being held to account by their parents

The best police candidates are shying away and older cops are retiring early

Jim tells positive cop stories and how it’s different now

If you physically accost a cop, you lose your rights

Both guys agree cops demand respect and we need them to avoid chaos

We need to let cops enforce the laws

Jim talks about too much law enforcement being a challenge too

Both guys also said that cops need to behave correctly

How we form our opinions about cops

Mark gets arrested again!

Jim talks about teaching young men how to treat cops and then tells about an interaction with cops at his home during a party for high school football players

One lesson is that you need to also know your rights as well as being calm and respectful with cops

Jim knew he had a life lesson opportunity with the kids

Mark praises Jim’s mentorship and Jim says we need to help the police

Mark tells two more “getting arrested” stories

The boys talk about how challenging it is to be a cop and how Mark was essentially racialy profiled - AKA great police work and that he felt no inclination to press charges - they were trying to protect us

Jim finishes with a story about some cousins who spent time in prison and how he reconnected with one of his cousins who got out of jail.  The officer who arrested him became a mentor to the ex con.  He said the officer saved his life

We don’t celebrate the good things cops do

Mark says the cop thing is bigger than just the cops.  It’s society too
