In this episode of Illuminate Higher Education, Kiran Kodithala, CEO of N2N Services, conducts a fascinating conversation with Dr. Emad Rahim, genocide survivor and refugee, about educating with empathy and grit, and what that entails, including technology for a hands-on approach. The end goal: Creating a more meaningful and rich learning experience.

Dr. Emad Rahim is one to talk! Not only is he an award-winning author, educator, and entrepreneur who serves at Biola University and the Jack Welsh Management Institute, co-authoring the book, Leading Through Diversity: Transforming Managers Into Effective Leaders, but he also had all the odds stacked against him that could have crippled him emotionally and intellectually for life.

Instead, Dr. Rahim tells of how the kindness and wisdom of a professor and other people changed the course of his life, leading him to rise above his past to become an Honours student, earning two doctorates, and becoming the Dean at multiple universities.

Dr. Rahim shares his gripping story which forms the basis of the discussion around providing an environment for students to succeed:

The importance of a supportive communityWhat students need to excel in an educative settingLearning styles and catering to them How to provide online learning for maximum impactThe future of education
