When we move from one place to another, we often have to change how we live and work to adapt to new cultures. But to do so without losing our sense of self is a tricky balancing act. It requires a deeper application of foundational leadership skills like self-reflection, empathy, understanding our personal values, recognizing different work styles, and identifying power and cultural dynamics. On this episode, Milan Maljkovic, Assistant Director for the Community of Practice on Engineering Leadership at Troost ILead, is in conversation with David Boroto, a U of T engineering alumnus (EngSci Infrastructure 1T8+PEY) and a member of the Infrastructure and Project Management team at the United Nations Office for Project Services. We’ll hear about David’s personal experiences as a third-culture kid searching for belonging and understanding while navigating life and work in South Africa, Canada, Guatemala, Kenya, Uganda, and Denmark. Let’s have a listen.
