The 2022 Oscars will forever go down as the day Will Smith non-jokingly slapped Chris Rock in the face on national television. Also, some people won awards and stuff! Todd, Lara, Andrea, and I provide fresh, initial thoughts on our feelings on the smack, the winners, the losers, and the films we will definitely be watching as a result.

EPISODE NOTES:

The following are the 2022 Oscars Best Picture nominations and our opinions on if you should watch:

"Belfast" -- No one watched, but Todd and Andrea were interested.

"CODA" *WINNER* -- Todd and Andrea agree that this was a worthy choice.

"Don't Look Up" -- Lara and I disliked this movie very much. Andrea ended up falling asleep.

"Drive My Car" -- No one watched, but Andrea heard from the one person she knew who had seen this film that it was a bit on the slow side. Apparently, they aren't driving that car fast.

"Dune" -- Todd and Andrea LOVED this film. Both agree that I will probably not like it, but my love for Timothy Chalamet may win over.

"King Richard" -- Todd and Lara loved this movie, and Lara and I will also watch it FOR SURE.

"Licorice Pizza" -- No one has watched this, nor does anyone understand what it's about. I should also disclose that no one plans on watching this unless one of you tells us we should.

"Nightmare Alley" -- Todd watched it and said we would not like it. But he did have it as an "I'll allow it" for Best Picture. That says a lot.

"The Power of the Dog" -- Andrea watched it and said she would never watch it again. She understands why it was nominated, though.

"West Side Story" -- We all watched it and thought it was terrific! Especially the non-depressing parts.

Note: Also on our "to watch" list is: "Encanto" and "Free Guy."
