This week we have a special guest for you! And she is going to introduce herself right here, right now.
Hey there! I’m Kim and I’m a work-from-home mom, stepmom, and wife. My husband Jack and I live in Central Florida with our three kids. I have my Masters degree in Behavior Analysis and have been a board-certified behavior analyst for over 15 years.
About 2 years ago, I started writing and sharing my blended family stories through Instagram publicly, however before that I was posting privately with friends and family and sharing really only what looked like the perfect family. On the outside, my friends and family knew me as this mom, stepmom, and wife who seemed to have her stuff together and managed to seamlessly blend her family. I didn’t really share the hard times because I didn’t want anyone to know. However, in reality, I was really a struggling and bitter stepmom, as well as a mom who had recently gotten over the guilt of making my son share two different homes, and a wife who felt resentment towards her husband because his past was affecting our marriage and our future. I began to share stories publicly because I didn’t like the false narrative I was writing for myself and decided that being vulnerable and honest with myself was the only way I was going to heal parts of me that hurt. I talk about co-parenting, custody sharing, blending a family, and being a stepmom. In the past 2 years, I have discovered that it is completely ok to feel how you feel and heal how you heal.
