Leading up to the UN Special Summit on Climate was a week of climate action in New York City, the highlight being a march to End Fossil Fuels. The Sunday march brought out an estimated 75,000 people, the largest climate event in the U.S. since COVID hit. The rally and march was controversial among some climate groups since it expressly called on President Biden to do more to halt fossil fuels, including declaring a climate emergency.
Mark Dunlea was at these marches and reported on them. Sina Basila Hickey interviewed him about what he experienced and the messaging of the event.
