A highly successful marketing and brand communications professional who has worked with a number of high profile businesses, today’s guest on Hot & Delicious: Rocks The Planet on Bondi Beach Radio, Rebecca Coomes, is a friend of mine whom I’ve known for about 20 years and is now the owner and founder of The Healthy Gut and author of the new series of SIBO Cookbooks.   Before we get into the thick of things of show I wanted provide people with context as to the subject matter today and what SIBO is for those of you who haven’t heard of it before. I must admit to feeling a little confronted bringing this topic to radio as it is not easy subject matter to bring up in a public sphere, but that in itself is exactly why I decided that it was important to do it.    Small Intestine Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO) is caused when excess number of bacteria enter the small intestine. Some of the symptoms associated with SIBO include abdominal cramping, bloating, food sensitivities and diarrhoea and/or constipation.    Though not well known in Australia, SIBO is potentially a very common condition as it is estimated that up to 80% of IBS sufferers may actually have undiagnosed SIBO.    Author Rebecca Coomes suffered from chronic health issues her whole life. After years of frustrations seeing GPs and her health not improving, she turned to a Naturopath who diagnosed her with SIBO and recommended a new clean eating plan restricting all grains, all sugars, fermentable fibres and processed foods amongst a wider list of gut troubling foods.   It means so much to me to promote the wonderful projects and businesses that my friends and people that inspire me are creating and if I can’t utilise my own platforms to not only celebrate their hard work, but raise awareness for important topics that quite often go unnoticed and can make a massive impact on people’s lives in the process, then what is the point in doing what I do.   And the best part? The recipes are 100% gluten-free and include dairy-free and sugar-free recipes too.   Bec Coomes, you are a legend! Let’s get into the show!   Connect with Bec Coomes of The Healthy Gut online: www.thehealthygut.com.au https://www.facebook.com/TheHealthyGuts/ https://www.instagram.com/the.healthy.gut/ https://twitter.com/thehealthygut
