A Tale of Two Suspirias and a Hunchback

This week, after the news, we’ll cover the drive-in classic, “Suspiria” from 1977 followed by our discussion of the short film, “In Extremis”, and our modern-horror feature film, “Suspiria” from 2018. 

 

News Features: Fandango has put together an 8-minute-long supercut of some of the most anticipated upcoming horror movies in 2019 as a very cool montage of previews, teasers, and clips. Brightburn, The Curse of Llorona, A Hole In The Ground and many others are coming soon, so check this out.

In a light news mention, on March 10th, Stephen King tweeted “I'm getting responses from people who liked POLICE ACADEMY 3. You guys are going to love POLICE ACADEMY MEETS THE CHILDREN OF THE CORN.” We suspect that he’s pulling our leg, but you never know... If you’re in Denver, Colorado March 14th through the 24th, go see the immersive art and opera production of “Bluebeard’s Castle” for us and tell us how it was. With audience sizes limited to 30, a small cast will bring to life the story of a mysterious royal who brings his fourth wife, Judith, home to his castle. What happened to the first three? Well, that’s what everyone finds out, and it doesn’t sound like they went peacefully. A minimal set will be augmented by surreal projections for multiple settings. Deadline Hollywood reports that Mayans M.C.‘s Richard Cabral of FX Network’s show will be starring in an installment of Hulu’s “Into The Dark”, a monthly horror event series from Blumhouse Television. The series started in October 2018 and features a story based on a holiday from each month. Cabral will be playing Santo, a cartel killer in the Independence Day themed episode. We overlooked this series existing, so we were glad to see this news. Blumhouse does a lot of really good work, and this one looks really entertaining.

This Saint Patrick’s Day Sunday the 17th what would be better than a “Leprechaun” horror-movie marathon? Starting at 9 am, The Syfy channel kicks it off with “Leprechaun: Back 2 tha Hood” and will be showing all seven of the films (though not in sequential order). Then repeating three of them into the wee hours of the morning. Grab a load of corned-beef cabbage and snacks for a day-long binge of impish-horror goodness. We dare you to watch them all.
