Horror Brain Podcast: Se7en (1995)

You usually hear that the number seven brings luck or even angelic qualities, but for this episode we’re focusing all on the sin. That’s right! We’re diving in with the classic movie, Se7en. This was a perfect storm, in the most positive way ever, of a film of everyone doing their job behind the camera and in front to bring a downright gritty horrific philosophical detective noir story.  Is it perfect? It’s damn close, and with very little for us to pick at. From the very start you feel the...

December 22, 2020 14:00 - 1 hour - 66.2 MB

This time on Horror Brain Podcast:  Here we go into the hedge maze of madness during these cold winter times of discussing the very well received, The Shining (1980). Our discussion might shock you as we attack this one of a kind film in pointing out its faults, positives, and straight up strange twists-n-turns. There's no arguing that Kubrick is a one of a kind director, but we do circle around the question of if he was a good fit to direct a horror movie or was he a good fit to direct wha...

Horror Brain Podcast: Drag Me to Hell (2009)

September 19, 2020 03:00 - 1 hour - 57.6 MB

This time on Horror Brain Podcast: What happens when you trade someone else's wellbeing just to get yourself ahead in life? Well, in Sam Raimi's "Drag Me to Hell", the results are a three-day torment from an evil spirit called the 'Lamia' and a subsequent, titular, dragging to hell. Wronging an old woman that casts curses? We can't say we recommend that. BUT -- we do recommend this movie! So, hold onto your buttons and avoid all geriatrics with loose dentures and spittle-soaked handkerchie...

We take the time to really jump in this movie and discuss some of the themes we found inte...

That's right!!! We've finally gotten into it!! Here we'll be discussing our vast, and lovely, appreciation of the sci-fi horror classic, Alien. What can we say about this movie? You'll have to listen! Hahahaha! This movie is beautifully crafted with characters that feel very real that are put in a situation that's beyond their understanding. You feel the tension, the fear from the wonderful production design/directing. Give us your ears as we take you on a deep journey into space as we dis...

We hope you enjoy our lovely talk about the reddish/pinkish ball of goo that is, The Blob, along with our commentary in our fun (non classically trained) Bane voices we through in for some of the cha...

June 24, 2020 12:00 - 2 hours - 86.6 MB

The saga continues! Stephen and I continue our debate knee-deep in the muck about what we think are the most influential horror movies of the 90s. Warning: Some shade was thrown (mostly by me), and I mention the love of a certain part of a director's anatomy several times. As always, Stephen brings in a lot of thoughtful, poignant rebuttals-- and I look forward to destroying him in our next battle. It was a blast, and I hope you enjoy it. **Tell us what your pics are for the most influe...

We had a lot of fun with this one! **Tell us what your pics are for most influential horror movie of t...

Hello everybody!!!! For this episode we're talking about the gem that was way ahead of its time, and pointed out so many injustices against black people and inner city development, Candyman. We talk about how this was practically a straight forward interpretation from Lovecraft's novel of the same name, practical effects on a budget, and the major influences throughout horror that has Lovecraft's fingerprint. Also, Nic Cage quotes a plenty.  We know a lot of people are stuck inside, and doing their best to not go insane. Hopefully this nugget will help you get your mind off of the negat...
