“Nepo baby: How could two little words cause so much conflict? A baby is a bundle of joy; a nepo baby is physical proof that meritocracy is a lie. We love them, we hate them, we disrespect them, we’re obsessed with them.”  - Nate Jones, Senior Writer at Vulture

In Jones' ever-popular 2022 feature on nepo babies, he writes that they've always been a fact of Hollywood: "Today, they're not only abundant — they're thriving. In an industry built on reboots, a famous last name can be valuable intellectual property."

So in a world where nepotism rewards the children of the rich and famous and, as a result, increases the wealth gap, how could we talk about money without mentioning nepo babies?

In this episode, Reni, the Resource, joins the conversation. Reni started her career in the Bank of Montreal's wealth management department, sending marketing materials to ultra-rich account holders. She began to wonder why only the most affluent people had access to that information, which sparked her curiosity about bringing it to social media for all to see. The rest is history.

Now a full-time content creator and financial literacy educator, Reni is changing the discourse around personal finance. She knows nepo babies are tired of being told they didn't work for what they have, but it doesn't change the fact that they constantly fail to acknowledge how their privilege benefits them.

So, buckle up! We get into how nepotism affects women and POC, some of the most outspoken nepo babies, and more.
