Christmas at High Street: The Mothers of Jesus

The Christmas story is rich with carefully placed details. The story begins when a young virgin hears from the angel that she will be the mother of the Messiah. The story includes a list of ancestors including several mothers. When God introduces his son he not only lists the names of fathers but also of several women. The mention of these mothers is quite out of the ordinary. Looking deeper at the stories of these women we discover some shameful circumstances. From the start we see that the story of Christmas is a story of God’s grace and mercy.
