There are a lot of lessons that I’ve learned over the years in entrepreneurship. However, some of these lessons have cost me more than others. And this week’s lesson is probably one of the most expensive and super painful lessons that I’ve had to learn.

Lesson #12: Playing an attorney cost me over $35,000 and I don’t want you to have to learn this the hard way. If you are not a licensed attorney, then you shouldn’t be playing one in your business. I no longer pretend to be an attorney because I still make mistakes. When you play a role that you’re not meant to fill, it can be costly. Not only can it cost you major financial losses, it can also cost you your friendships and future partnerships.

Join me this week as I share why I no longer partner with clients without a legally binding document and why my attorney plays a major role in my business ventures. Be sure to stay tuned as next week, I interview my attorney. We discuss the legal side of how to start your business, how to protect your business, and what kind of decisions you need to be making. Heart Centered Hustlers, don’t let simple mistakes cost you your future success.

Topics Discussed:

Viewing an Attorney as both an investment and security for your business Why a “Man’s Handshake” isn’t the same as a formal written agreement How contracts save friendships and partnerships within entrepreneurship Why financial loss isn’t the only thing at stake without an attorney  How doing your Due Diligence is a game changer for your business
