Derek grew up with a great family, his passions nurtured and encouraged from a young age.
He could play hockey and everyone knew it.

His relationships with friends, family, and teammates were good.

Nobody saw it coming.

As he moved forward in his career as a hockey player it was clear that if you wanted to party, you wanted to hang out with Derek.

Always the last man standing.

Along with being an exceptional hockey player, Derek learned that he could lay brick pretty well too.

Enter Cocaine.

Fast forward and we find Derek hiding in his room, only leaving long enough to peek out the front window.

The party was over.

Derek went to his boss,

"I have a problem"

Tune in this week and listen to Derek #takeofftheblinders around how problematic substance use not only affected his career as a hockey player but as a bricklayer as well. He'll talk about the depths he sunk too, and how he turned it all around to become the trusted person in service he is today

The International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers Local 1 SK President
