Listener J asks:

"This feels like kind of a silly question to ask, but as I saw the following events unfold today, I knew I had to submit this question. Today I was at Whole Foods having lunch with my daughter. I was standing at the (large, communal) salad bar looking at the "Build Your Own Thai Noodle Salad" section they had and was about to build my own salad when a man walked up with his plate, stuck his finger in the container of salad dressing, tasted it, and walked to another section of the salad bar. Maybe I'm just a germophobe, but I was really grossed out (at this point I opted out of getting anything from the salad bar) and honestly pretty surprised that he did this. This is a communal salad bar. Who knows what he had touched before he put his finger in the salad dressing? I stood there for a minute trying to decide if I should say or do something, but honestly I couldn't come up with what to say and I was trying to wrangle a hungry 6 year old in a busy Whole Foods. I have a few questions:

Is it just me or is this gross? Should I have said something to the guy who did this? If so, what and how should I have said something? Right after the man walked away from the salad dressing, a Whole Foods employee came up to the salad bar to bring more lettuce or something to another section of the salad bar. I contemplated saying something to the employee but didn't want to sound weird and was worried about the man overhearing me say something to the employee (its probably obvious here that I don't enjoy confrontation of any kind). Should I have said something to the employee? If so, what could I have said?"
