This episode of the Grim Drive Podcast, where we explore mental health through the lens of professional sports and athletes, takes a look at Justin Forsett + Financial Literacy.

The running back position requires vision, to see the blocking schemes unfold and spot out the holes to run through. Justin Forsett has put this vision to use, not only in his nine years in the NFL, but also as an entrepreneur and business owner in his life after football.  He saw very early on that football would not be his entire life, and so he started laying the groundwork for a second passion, which eventually became his current company called Hustle Clean. Justin Forsett is an example of an athlete who didn;t wait until his career was over to plan the next step, using financial literacy and work ethic to achieve his goals

Financial Literacy is a topic that relates to mental health.  While money can’t necessarily buy happiness, not having money can certainly correlate with elevated stress levels, which can negatively impact mental health.  Learning about financial literacy is key, as is defining the ideal situation and turning financial goals into a process.  We delve into four steps that listeners can consider taking on the path to financial freedom.

*The Grim Drive Podcast is a way for people to learn about mental fitness, mental health, and mental illness, through the lens of sports. We want to do our part to further reduce the stigma associated with mental health by highlighting the athletes who have shown strength through vulnerability, spoken up, and spoken out.  We want to provide listeners with mental health education, to raise awareness and reduce risk, maximizing the path to mental fitness.
