This week Tee was honored to speak with Heather Hausenblas, PhD, about how our environment is affecting our health from a scientific point of view. Heather believes we can have healthy and happy lives through simple wellness habits. She’s a health psychology expert, international award-winning scientist, public speaker, and best-selling author. She is ranked in the top 1% of the most influential scientists in the world. Her research focuses on how our health habits affect our well-being.

Heather has published 8 books and over 100 scientific articles. She has appeared on radio shows and podcasts and her work has been featured in magazines such as SELF, Real Simple, Women’s World, O The Oprah Magazine, and dozens more as well as in news publications such as The Times London and The Chicago Tribune.

Even with her vast education on wellness, Heather’s outlook shifted when her eldest son was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease in 2018. She was forced to rediscover what it means to live a healthy, happy life for her family. Her journey is captured in her No. 1 new release book, Invisible Illness, a guide to reducing overwhelm and achieving optimal health while living with an autoimmune disease. Through eye-opening research and personal stories, Heather provides science-backed solutions, simple health tips, and nutritious recipes that everyone can use on their wellness journey.

Heather obtained her PhD from Western University in Canada. She was a faculty member and the Director of the Exercise Psychology Lab at the University of Florida, and she has served as a Scientific Advisor for nutrition, supplement, and health companies. She is currently a Professor of Health Sciences at Jacksonville University. Heather is the CEO and Founder of Wellness Discovery Labs, a health behavior research company; and she is the co-founder of Healthy Moves Journaling, a wellness company that focuses on small changes for big health improvements. When Heather’s not walking the family dog, cooking with natural ingredients, watching her sons play sports, and exercising outdoors with friends she’s researching wellness. She’s a health and science nut – it’s her career, hobby, and passion. She resides in Jacksonville, Florida with her husband and three boys.
