What does it look like when we empty ourselves of ourselves?

Jesus paints a vivid picture of the first two indicators of what we can expect when we put away our obsession with ourselves and start to focus on living a kingdom life. Where God is King and we are not. Where we don't spend an unhealthy amount of time thinking about ourselves in social situations or work situations or future situations but instead we spend more time thinking about God and how we can help other people. Where we recognize we're not the centre of the universe and be content with that and overjoyed by that and rest in that.

In this section of the beatitudes we learn about mercy and purity of heart. What these things look like and how every single one of us exists by grace and grace alone.
