Previous Episode: No Condemnation
Next Episode: Suffering

Romans 8:12-17. Prior to conversion, humans are slaves to sin and death. People are not able to not sin. They must pay homage to the flesh which controls thoughts and actions. Thanks to God, when Christ redeems the lost, they are indwelled by the Spirit of God and are empowered to choose not to sin. Because they are in Christ, believers now owe nothing to the flesh, even though lust calls again and again. Even more, believers are sons (and daughters) of God and are heirs of Christ. The witness of the Spirit in the heart of the Christian says that “we are children of God.” While new life in Christ conflicts with the lost culture, subsequent suffering with Christ brings glory to the Lord and a promise of a glorious future with him.
