It was a random day in February 2014 and Amy Zellmer found herself doing something she does multiple times a day – taking her (so adorable!!!) pup, Pixxie, outside for a bio break. Only this day would change the rest of Amy’s life including the work she does in the world. Amy slipped on a patch of black ice on her steep driveway and can still remember the exact sound of her skull hitting the pavement.
All concussions are Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI) and most concussions resolve themselves in under six weeks but Amy’s took not just months and a number of different doctors, but years. When her neurologist finally told her – this is probably the best it’s going to get – Amy said WTF and took matters into her own hands.
Listen in as Amy shares her inspirational tale as a TBI survivor including the oh-so-important advocate work that takes her around the country.
