Delighted to announce the next guest for my Neurodiversity Stories 🙌

Martin Bloomfield

Topic of talk - "Dyslexia: Teaching, Studying, and the Consolation of Philosophy"

Like most people with dyslexia, I was the bottom of the class in most subjects at school. I found school humiliating, confusing, and frightening. And it was this that drove me to becoming a teacher - for two reasons: first, that I wanted to make sure others didn't suffer like I did; and second, that I was excellent at being creative and communicating ideas, and found a niche running extra-curricular drama classes, so that instead of spending my whole time at school hating life, I could at least feel validated by this one "lesson" per week that I ran. But I also became a philosophy student late in life, and discovering what philosophy was "about", allowed me to really flourish and grow in ways that the school system never let me.

Come and join us to hear Martin's incredible story.
