Nyibil Amum, is one of ermha365’s awesome mental health support workers.

Nyibil recently completed a 1000 kilometre walk to Canberra and Sydney to raise awareness of mental health, youth suicide prevention and the need for more services and support for culturally diverese young Australians, including in his own South Sudanese community.

Nyibil embarked on this powerful journey in honour of his son Oyiti, who took his own life in 2021.

This tragedy exposed to Nyibil and his family that there needs to be more mental health support and education that’s relevant to young people like Oyiti, and that there is work to do within culturally and linguistically diverse communities in Australia, to shed stigmas about mental health and seeking support. And Nyibil is determined to help make this happen.
