Sports transcends cultures, but sportsmanship isn't something that is taught in China. Fast forward to modern China, and the concept of TEAMWORK means something different than it means in the US.
When a Chinese swimmer is caught using performance enhancing drugs, to call him a cheater is to disrespect all 1.4 billion Chinese people.
When American professional athletes are caught in the US, the media calls out the cheater without any reference to the athletes nationality.
