Welcome to the Gabba Gabba Huh? Podcast, featuring the best of The Carolinas' punk, alternative, hard rock, and heavy metal from the past 40 years. While the main podcast (Gabba Gabba Huh? Talks) will be more converstional and interview style, while "Gabba Gabba Huh? Radio" will focus on the music, with some background information on the songs and bands featured. Most songs will be digitized from original vinyl, cassette, or CD sources, thus the quality will vary, but will be rather true to the original form. Hosted by Mike Phillips from Van Huskins

Radio - Episode 17

July 15, 2020 04:00 - 49 minutes - 34 MB

Gabba Gabba Huh? Radio is back and in a familiar, shorter (but not too short... I went for longer songs this time!), easier to digest format! While this one is following the old format, I recorded this one mostly live! Not a true facebook live, but this one was just like I was broadcasting on the radio with the songs played live as you'll hear them, and only minimal editing my stuff between. This may be the format for the foreseeable future, though I may incorporate recording them in the mid...

Talks! Episode 19 - Trey Spears (The Walbournes)

July 08, 2020 03:00 - 1 hour - 66.1 MB

After a few weeks off, Gabba Gabba Huh? Talks! is back! This week, I talk to Trey Spears from The Walbournes, Graveyard Boulevard, and formerly of Skipper the Lion. We talk about Trey's first stage appearance at 10, the evolution of The Walbournes, Graveyard Boulevard as an influence and another outlet, about how Covid-19 has effected the band, and much more! This one probably has the most self serving stinger of all, but all to let you know a little of what's in the works over here! https:...

Radio - Episode 16 (Facebook Live, 6.27.2020)

July 03, 2020 03:00 - 2 hours - 91.6 MB

Note: I apparently made a last minute edit/mistake that threw some things off by a couple of seconds, and as it is there's no easy fix! For now it is what it is, but I'll probably fix it soon as it's bothering the crap outta me!  I'm coming back next week with a full length Talks! episode, but with this one I'm caught up with my recorded Live radio sets! Does that mean this is it? Not at all... GGH Radio will continue to be a thing, both live on Facebook (at least while our entertainment op...

Radio - Episode 15 (Facebook live!)

July 01, 2020 03:00 - 1 hour - 80 MB

Back again with another recording of a Facebook live event. I'm still going on Saturday nights (well, probably not July 4... but... maaaaybee?), so come join me for music and me tripping over my words at times! Some of this is a bit reverb-y, but I'll try to figure that out before the next stream (I replaced the songs that sound like they were run through a phaser, so you can thank me for that). Look for another episode this Friday as I try to get caught up before bringing Talks! back next w...

Talks! Release Series 4: Laguna, Inc., "Start of It All"

June 29, 2020 05:00 - 39 minutes - 27.3 MB

Hey! I'm back with Talks! earlier than expected! While the longer, regular version of Talks! will be back next Wednesday (look for TWO more radio episodes later this week), today I'm featuring a new band, Laguna Inc., and their ep, Start of It All. While this is not a new release, it is a recent release that has been mostly overlooked due to the timing of the release and the shutdown of avenues to promote it. Technically, this could be a "new artist spotlight", but to keep this whole thing f...

Radio - Episode 14 "Live! AMA"

June 24, 2020 04:00 - 1 hour - 81.1 MB

This week, I try something a little bit different! I let you ask me questions and it went... well, better than the following week (you'll see... just less questions)! If you haven't hung out with us on Saturday nights, you should check it out! Very interactive, as you can see from this episode, and you get to hang out with some of your favorite local musicians and music fans, in a covid-safe environment! We have a blast, so why don't you join us, live, for the fun?! See the Facebook event pa...

June 17, 2020 03:00 - 2 hours - 85.6 MB

As I hit the first week of my break from Talks! episodes, I'm giving you a peak into what's been going on over at Facebook on Saturday nights during the Covid-19 restrictions! This episode is packed with music and will keep you rocking for two solid hours! You'll get more of this next week, along with a little more "talk" as I introduce "AMA" to the mix. Keeping this going for the duration of the live music restrictions, and then likely for a little while longer, before I move it to an earli...

June 10, 2020 06:00 - 1 hour - 77.1 MB

As I get ready to take my "mid-season break" (not that I plan on having seasons), I interviewed Todd Goss, of Jettison Records and Blue Green Gods, via video chat! We talk about the beginnings of his love with music, his band, Blue Green Gods, and Jettison Records, which he ran from 1991 to 1995. We go release by release and get the inside info on all the bands and recording sessions, and get some great stories along the way! If you're looking for Jettison releases, Todd still has some ava...

This week's episode was recorded a few weeks ago, over two Fridays, with my friends, John Bridges and Jon Bowman! In this episode, we talk about Mystery School Records, Street Clones, the harsh noise scene, and so much more, all backed by more music than ever before! Beers were drank, and spilled, in this episode of firsts... first multi-person zoom interview, first third time guest, and first fully naked guest?! It happens! Also, rare double stinger warning! https://www.facebook.com/myste...

May 20, 2020 04:00 - 1 hour - 75.8 MB

Hey, hey! What's this?! Another episode of GGH Talks!? Read on for more info! This week, my guest is Tiff Tantrum of No Anger Control! We talk about her musical journey, all things No Anger Control, the caliber of people in the Charlotte scene, and navigating these covid-19 times. May 08, 2020 05:00 - 36 minutes - 25.3 MB

This week, I talk with Chloe, Music, and Shepherd of the band, True Lilith, via webcam... with the usual pesky, but tolerable audio issues that unfortunately come along with the technology. We talk all about their new single, "Trash", about their history as a band, a previous project they were all involved in, some unlikely influences, and they try to start a video game beef with another local band. You don't want to miss this fun episode, or this extremely talented new band! https://www.fa...
