What if touchscreen technology could be applied to whole environments? Could you have a multi-touch sensitive house, with all the walls receiving input from the user? These are the kinds of questions posed by Chris Harrison, professor at CMU. Harrison is a computer scientist by training, and the focus of his research is human-computer interaction. Harrison explains that it's taking insights from computer science and science generally and “applying them to this very specific problem of trying to get the interaction between human and computer more powerful, more intuitive, and overall just more delightful.”
The touch screen experience hasn't really changed in the past 10 years, since the release of the iPhone. Chris Harrison sees touch screen technology becoming a more ubiquitous element in our rapidly changing world. It'll be more than the little rectangle in your pocket, or your bag. It could be part of your interface to everyday life.
